Chemistry Teacher

Job Title: Physical Education Teacher

Location: Althoff Catholic High School, Belleville, IL

Position Type: Full-Time

Start Date: Immediately

Salary Range: $37,571 - $49,531 (Based on year of service and level of education)

Position Overview: The Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for planning, teaching, and assessing high school chemistry courses (including general and advanced levels). The ideal candidate will create engaging, hands-on lessons that inspire curiosity, promote critical thinking, and prepare students for future success in STEM fields while fostering a learning environment consistent with Catholic values. 

Responsibilities:

•Teach Chemistry courses in alignment with state standards, school curriculum, and departmental goals. 

• Design and deliver lessons that incorporate lab activities, experiments, and real-world applications. 

• Maintain a safe, organized, and effective laboratory learning environment. 

• Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods. 

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. 

• Integrate Catholic values into instruction and classroom culture. 

• Participate in school-wide activities, professional development, and faculty responsibilities. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred). 

• Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Chemistry endorsement, or ability to obtain. 

• Teaching experience at the high school level preferred. 

• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
